how it works
x402 moves the money. Tollfair adds the grade and the gate.
The tollbooth runs on the seller's own server, so payment goes straight from agent to seller.

two views
Same request, two sides.
Flip between what a seller sets up and what an agent sees.
Seller view: what you set up
- 01
Install the tollbooth
An npm package on your own server, in front of the routes you choose. Your API stays yours.
- 02
Set a price and rules
Price per call, verified agents only, a lower price for verified agents, or a free sample for the rest.
- 03
Get graded
We test your data against the source on six counts. Your DQ rating travels inside every 402 reply.
- 04
Get paid per call
Agents pay your wallet directly over x402, or by card through Stripe's Machine Payments Protocol.
the flow
Money goes agent to seller.
Tollfair only checks and logs. It gets a copy of the receipt, which counts the call and feeds the track record.

NO DATA, NO CHARGE
Agents pay only for a successful call.
The facilitator settles after the seller's API returns data. A failed call costs nothing.
WE NEVER HOLD FUNDS
The seller's wallet is the only destination.
Tollfair never holds, receives or transmits money. We check the grade and log the receipt.
the booth
What the booth adds to plain x402.
The grade travels with the price
Grade, provenance, freshness and licence sit inside the 402 reply, so the agent decides before it pays.
Rules for agents
Verified agents only, a lower price for verified agents, or a free sample for the rest. The booth reads existing verification such as signed bot traffic; it doesn't vet agents itself.
Two ways to get paid
x402 stablecoins, and Stripe's Machine Payments Protocol for sellers who want cards and pounds. One install.
Found by agents
Every booth gets a listing in the Tollfair catalogue and in the agent discovery files.
the catalogue model
Every listing moves through five states.
V1 runs the first two. The rest switch on as grading and the tollbooth arrive.
